2024 Annual Conference

Under the theme: "Dams for sustainable development in the Democratic Republic of Congo".

On August 31, 2024, the city of Lubumbashi vibrated to the rhythm of exchanges and strategic reflections on the country's energy future at the annual conference of the Congolese Committee for Large Dams (CCGB)in partnership with International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD).

Under the theme "Dams for sustainable development in the Democratic Republic of Congo".The meeting brought together experts from the hydropower sector, political decision-makers, investors and representatives of international organizations.

An essential lever for the energy transition

With an estimated hydroelectric potential of over 100,000 MWThe DRC holds one of the world's largest reservoirs of renewable energy. However, only a tiny fraction of this capacity is exploited. Against this backdrop, the conference highlighted the crucial role of large dams in electrifying the country and combating climate change.
